Argostoli is a town and municipality on the island of Kefalonia in the Ionian Islands of Greece. It grew into one of the busiest ports in the country, bringing prosperity and development to the area. To the east of Argostoli, at the end of the bay and below the Castle of St. George, lies the Koutavos Lagoon, an important feeding ground for loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) and now a protected nature reserve.
